oh that...

Ali recently blogged about her "one little word" for 2009. In 2008, my word was transformation and it ended up being a perfect word to sum up the year for me for a variety of reasons. For 2009, I picked calm - to focus on slowing down.

I started the year off by clearing off my calendar of nearly all of my commitments - which definitely helped calm things down a bit. I can't say that my overall being is calm, but I do manage to squeeze in moments of calm whenever I can; coffee and a pastry at one of my favorite coffee shops, making scrapbook project, outing with the family, etc. One thing I have not incorporated well is regular date nights. I better get on that!

dino camp

This week the kiddo is taking a camp on dinosaurs at the local community center. We have really been talking the camp up - last year's camp didn't go so well). To help with the transition, we signed up with another friend from the neighborhood. It's always good to have a buddy around.

Before pick up on the first day, hubby and I went outside and watched the kids playing a game of tag on the baseball field. It was great to see the kid having so much fun with his peers. He has been talking about various games they played throughout the day (Simon Says, Shark, etc.).

Now we are off to take swimming lessons with Dad - we'll see how this goes...

getting a job

Recently, the kiddo and I were talking about Kindergarten coming up in the Fall. I asked him if he was getting excited, and he quickly replied "No, I'll be away from you and Daddy for too long and you're probably going to get a job."

I know I've mentioned that I will have so much free time when he goes to school that I will probably get a job. It's amazing how sensitive kids can be. Whenever we talk about Kindergarten we always try to be really positive - I guess I need to work on that...

I have a feeling he is going to love it.
