dec daily: work in process

I've been collecting bits of this and that for my December Daily album over the past few weeks. Here's a peek of my album with all of my notes and bits of paper that I've been sliding in along the way. My sticky note process is still working well. At the end of every day, I scribble down the highlights and stick it on the page. If I've collected anything during the day, I add that in too. This helps me remember the details of the day when I get around to putting the page together.

The album keeps getting bigger and bigger, but still seems far from filling the big rings I have holding it together. I've been checking out Ali's list of other December Daily posts to get ideas for my album. Check it out for some inspiration!

ready for the holidays

I just completed my December Daily album for 2010!

For the cover, I started with heavy cardstock, painted the insides and then covered the exterior in patterned paper. As I was working on the cover it started to resemble a wrapped present and I really like the way it turned out. 

My foundation pages:

I decided to keep things simple this year and keep all of the pages 6 x 9 for consistency. This is the first year that my papers are the same size. The time consuming part ended up being creating the dates for each page.  

You can see the rest of the foundation pages here. My plan is to keep a stack of sticky notes next to the album and each day jot down the picture or story I want to use on the page. Typically I will order my photos mid way through the month and then complete the rest of the album in early January. At least that is my plan!

This weekend, I set out to purchase my supplies for this year's December Daily album. To simplify the process, I'm going with Ali's 6 x 8 format. You'll see a theme of simplifying over the holidays from me. I have finally decided to discontinue my handmade holiday cards - they are just too time consuming. 

Here are some pics of my supplies -  I love these papers and I'm sure I will find other holiday items in my stash that I can incorporate into my album.

december daily update

Here is a peak of my December Daily progress. 

I only have a few days left to put together and then I really need to finalize the cover. This is what it looks like right now.
 
I've been looking for holiday paper with bright reds and greens, but I'm finding a lot of pinks in the holiday lines this year. Not too excited about pink! I'm sure I'll figure something out.
  

work in process

Tonight I started my December Daily album, which I'm hoping to finalize by Thanksgiving. The basic concept is to create an album to document the first 25 days of December. Ali came up with the idea a few years ago. I have been browsing examples on Flickr for some inspiration. I just love this page with the star. I used a chipboard star from my stash to cut a star in the middle of one of my pages and then I adhered another pattern behind it with Santa and rudolph peeking through. Super cute!

I'm still debating how to cover the album. I really wanted to use an old recipe book with index cards for my pages, but I wasn't able to find one. I ended up getting an 8x8 Winnie the Pooh photo album at Goodwill for $1.99. I just need to decide if I'm going to paint it or cover it with scrapbook paper.
