I signed up for my first half marathon. Originally, I wanted to complete a full marathon before I turned 30. Well, that was awhile ago! Now I'm aiming for a half and then I can think about a full. After I drop the kid off for school, I drive directly to my workout. Getting it out of the way is key for me. I've been training for several weeks now and this week I'm increasing my runs from 3 times a week to 4. I was really dreading this, but I have actually been pretty happy with my runs this week and I have just one left to go.
I recently bought an Ipod Shuffle to listen to while running and it has been great. I timed my splits at the track earlier this week and I was surprised that I was able to increase my time during my run.
(Mile 1) 10:43, (Mile 2) 12:05 , (Mile 3) 11:32, (Mile 4) 11: 27
Yes, I know I am slow - but I was happy to see that I could run faster later in my run and I'm pretty sure it is because I was listening to tunes. Turns out Justin Timberlake is highly motivating.
